Red River Authority Featured in WaterWorld Magazine
The Red River Authority of Texas is proud to be featured in WaterWorld magazine for its efforts to improve water reliability and address critical infrastructure needs for rural customers in Wilbarger County.
The August 10, 2026, article, “Solving Scarce Water Supply for Sparse Populations,” highlights the Authority’s project to replace an aging water pipeline serving customers in and around Lockett, Texas. The project includes the installation of more than 20 miles of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe to replace approximately 60-year-old PVC infrastructure that had experienced significant water loss.
The new pipeline will improve water delivery from Vernon to Lockett, reduce water loss, and provide a more durable and reliable system for the approximately 1,000 customers served in the area.
The project also represents a strong collaborative effort. The Plastics Pipe Institute, Performance Pipe, Dow, and Modern Dispersions contributed materials, technical expertise, installation guidance, and training to support the project and help address the community’s infrastructure needs.
The Red River Authority is proud of the dedication and expertise demonstrated by its employees throughout this project. Investing in reliable infrastructure is an important part of the Authority’s commitment to providing quality water service to rural communities, regardless of how remote they may be.
