Water Service and Backflow Prevention Updates
The Red River Authority of Texas is updating its water service procedures to clarify customer responsibilities and help protect the public water supply.
Backflow Prevention:
Certain water services may be required to install an approved backflow prevention assembly when a backflow event or meter activity indicates a potential risk to the public water system. Customers are responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, and required reporting of these devices.
Customer Responsibilities:
Customers are responsible for water usage recorded through their meter, as well as pressure regulators and customer-owned backflow prevention devices. Backflow prevention assemblies must be tested annually or as otherwise required by the Authority or TCEQ.
Meter Services:
Billing adjustment requests must meet established requirements. Data-logging or meter-accuracy testing fees will only be reimbursed when a meter is determined to be malfunctioning.
These updates are intended to clarify customer responsibilities and strengthen protection of the public water supply. For questions, please contact the Red River Authority of Texas at 940-723-8697 or info@rra.texas.gov.
