A Texas Clean Rivers
Program Partner
The Clean Rivers Act of 1991 is an innovative and far-reaching statute, which recognizes the fundamental importance of clean water for the state now and in the future. The assessments of water quality required by the Act are a tool to help identify and prioritize water quality problems within each watershed and sub-watershed to enable the development of effective solutions and management strategies for improving the quality of the natural resources.
The Red River Authority of Texas contracts with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to perform the Clean Rivers Act requirements on behalf of the Canadian River Basin and the Red River Basin. The public is encouraged to become involved and participate in this important program.
